Skincare doesn’t have an emergence season. So, we decided to dedicate this week’s article to all of you glow-getters who deserve sustainable skincare products as unique as you are! To get the most benefit from your sustainable skincare cocktail, you should know your very individual and specific needs.
We are excited about all the sustainable options out there, from hydrating oils to transparent sunscreens. We curated 7 sustainable skincare brands that we love. For you, we divided them into morning and nighttime routines. We also have some suggestions on how to use each one of them. Without further ado, we hope that our sustainable skincare article helps you discover cruelty-free, organic brands for any skin type!
Over the night our pillowcase can accumulate oils from our face and hair, as well as bacteria and dust. Therefore, we should always start our morning routine by washing our faces! For a cleanser that avoids using ingredients like animal hair and Glycerine, we suggest i+m’s Cleansing Milk. In 1978, i+m was founded by two midwives in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Since then, they have been creating and producing organic, sustainable skincare products regionally to this day. The brand is vegan certified according to cruelty-free International Leaping Bunny. According to COSMOS ORGANIC standards, i+m uses 100% certified organic cosmetics. Additionally, 20% of their profits go to their social project, one of the first women shelters in Zambia. It is financed and mainly run by i+m.

Founded in Austria in 2003, the brand focuses on supporting the skin’s natural functions so it can work at its best. Its production facility has been operating for over 17 years and runs on solar, thermal, and green electricity sources. Also, the facility is located in the Bregenz Forest, close to the headquarters, reducing transportation emissions and supporting regional production. Inspired by Alpine flora, the brand offers rosehip and wheat germ oil for its organic antioxidants. We often hear: eat your veggies, but why? Antioxidants come from food resources, such as fruits, and plant-based oils, and protect the skin against harmful external influences. The plant-based ingredients and 100% natural essential oils of the Blueberry antioxidant celebrate the healing power of plants. You can also discover other suitable skincare products based on your skin type!

The home to brand L:A BRUKET, Varberg in Sweden has 200 years of spa culture. The brand has adopted this wealth of tradition in its contemporary range of skincare treatments. Sustainably sourced seaweed and algae are just some of the key ingredients in its number of formulations! Currently, the brand is also exploring new applications for future products. The natural antioxidant serum is a rich source of vitamin C for the skin that hydrates and provides glow. The key ingredients speak for themselves; Aloe vera juice, broccoli seed, cucumber, and seaweed extract. Vitamin C promotes collagen production. That’s why we suggest you apply vitamin C as a serum in the mornings after cleansing and before applying moisturiser and sunscreen.

Inspired by their love for the environment, Nuria Val and Gabriela Salord co-founded ROWSE as a celebration of raw beauty. The brand creates plant-based skincare essentials made from 100% organic cold-pressed oil filtered. Not to mention that ROWSE creates formulations and recipes to use for the entire body, thus preventing the industry standard of buying multiple products for different parts of our beauty regime. ROWSE also partners with small, independent laboratories based in Spain. The brand sources the best ingredients and manufactures the products through processes as gentle on the planet as they are on the skin. We suggest their hazelnut oil that moisturises and soothes the skin without drying out the skin’s natural barrier and maintaining its balance.

TYPOLOGY is a vegan,cruelty-free, sustainable skincare brand founded in summer 2020 by Ning Li. The brand gained a big momentum last year since its products are accessible and affordable for everyone. The brand sources exotic extracts from sustainable farms using gentle extraction techniques. Further, the brand uses glass for packaging with aluminium tubes. It’s the only material that can be recycled repeatedly without losing its quality. We love their aloe vera sunscreen with a non-shiny and non-sticky finish. Our skin works to protect us from harmful ultraviolet radiation. Therefore, we should use sunscreen to protect it from damaging UV rays, which can lead to skin cancer and discolouration. In fact, even on cloudy days, our skin is vulnerable to sun rays. GUY MORGAN is a London-based brand created out of founder Morgan’s own frustrations with aggressively gendered skincare. It was important to him to create an inclusive brand for all genders, skin types, and ages. Each bottle is hand-blended in Morgan’s studio to ensure freshness and high-quality standards. The products and their minimalistic packaging encourage us to slow down and appreciate the small, yet meaningful daily rituals. For the final ingredient for the best skincare routine, we suggest the Dagger Rose face oil. The Dagger Rose face oil is a mixture of antioxidants and organic botanicals, which promote radiant skin and repair. Furthermore, it soothes the skin and enhances its elasticity.

Sḵwálwen Botanicals is an Indigenous, sustainable skincare brand that offers plant-based, sustainable skincare products. It’s inspired by and grounded in Indigenous plant knowledge. Also, the brand’s mission is to build connections to the land, because working with plants is a way that feeds one’s heart and spirit. Sḵwálwen translates to ‘heart’ or ‘essence of being’ in the Squamish language. The botanist founder, Leigh, develops each recipe by pairing particular plants based on their healing properties. Their products help people learn about Indigenous plant knowledge and plant-based ingredients during their self-care rituals. We love the Cranberry Rose Facial Serum, botanically-derived and deeply nourishing.
